So yesterday we were making dinner and noticed a chipmunk on the branch above our bird feeder in the back yard. It hangs from one of the limbs of the Pine tree behind our deck, so we get a perfect view of the "birds" from the kitchen. However, birds have taken a back seat from an entertainment value perspective. This daredevil chipmunk was incredible, able to dangle down from the limb and make his way onto the feeder, slipping and nearly plummeting every 30 seconds. We didn't care so much about the chipmunk because he was unable to get much seed this way. Watching this with amusement (and feeling extra confident about my special bird feeder coat-hanger-rope hanging system) I made a snide comment to Kendal that "if the chipmunks had a brain, they would just chew through the rope". Well, at least I was right about that being a good solution to their problem.
